I informed race control that the 4th place car for Sundays race wasn't competing, I was assured there would be a new grid issued as the start procedure are chaotic anyway, come the race I asked a marshal if it was changed and he said the didn't change it. Also the gridding up prior the start needs looking at as gaps were too close where cars were out of position. No one wants a start line incident do they

As a relative newcomer I was surprised at the hscc start procedure generally when I started last year. I only have limited race experience previously but that was always gridded up on the grid.

So I don't like what hscc do really. On the green flag lap the cars and up tearing round the track and then the grid can be a real mess as it was at Cadwell. The finals said two by two for all races which was not correct.

It's not the biggest deal unless it leads to a start shunt when it will be a big deal.

Perhaps Alan can help us out here on what should be happening.

Graham

I thought a bulletin had been issued on Saturday explaining that the grids had been changed to 1X1 staggered rather than 2x2 (presumably because of the narrowness of Cadwell) for single seaters. Clearly that information didn't get through. I'll make enquiries... I'll also check what the procedure will be for Brands.

I only found out by listening to the race commentary on Sunday morning!

I feel for you Chris, but Tony would be the only person or his entrant that should be able aloud to surrender his grid spot, on my old tyres, i was glad of the breather.

Totally agree with Graham, how much better for the cost of a few seconds would it have been to grid us then have a warm up lap, not a run round grid and go. My overheated clutch led to me missing a gear at thruxton that ccaused that start line incident.

I sort of had a feeling nowt would be done, and thought it wasnt worth informing but a few ppl said I should including Ken, I help out a hff1600 competitor also and have seen several awful gridding up starts where cars were not on the grid and ppl just drove in the empty grid space.

Ian, well done mate, showing just how quick a ff2000 can go 30.0, good job the f3, s are there to give you a challenge

Don't grumble too loudly chaps or else we'll get punished with a rolling start then we really will have something to moan about. I guess we'll have to do all that at Brands.

Just to clear up an error in the final instructions for Brands. The Historic cars will not be released in championship order for qualifying. All the cars will be released in the order in which they arrive in the assembly area - it's the only fair way for both classes. Unfortunately, the final instructions were already in the post when I pointed this out so the HSCC will be issuing a bulletin with the appropriate correction.
