Hi Everyone.

I have been looking into buying a timing transponder.

A quick look at the AMB timing system web site, has shown me that I have walked into a minefield.

Please help!

Hi Greg,

It used to be just a case of buying an AMB transponder and getting on with it but it now seems a bit more involved looking at the various web sites. Best suggestion is contact Timing Solutions LTD to answer any queries you have. There are two transponders to consider, both are My-Laps and are essentially the same but one is battery operated (rechargeable) and the other one operates directly from the car battery which has to be the best option. It now seems that having bought the transponder you need to take a contract for operation, either one, two or five years. You didn't have to do that with the old AMB transponders but the plus side is even with a five year contract the overall cost is now considerably lower at around £300 compared to the last AMB one that I bought at well over £400 from memory!

Thank you so much for the reply.

I have sent them an e-mail to see what they suggest.

I have a very old AMB transponder and just need to have a back up plan in case it proves to have died when I actually get to try it!
