Just when I thought I was finished it seems I'm not. The Pilbeam has a Hewland mk9 in a VW casing, it is engaging all (4) gears but I have no drive just a grinding noise which seems to come from a sleeve which connects the layshaft to the clutch shaft. How does one access this sleeve, and if I need to take a side cover off, is any side preferable? Help! Only 3 weeks to Kyalami debut...... |

Sorry to tell you this but,the sleeve is probably fitted the wrong way round,it has a recess at one end.The only way to turn it round is to pull the gearbox back far enough so you can flip it through the lh side plate.Check the splines have not been rounded off.Good luck, |

Thanks for the help, I completely mis-diagnosed the problem which was related to the internal splines in the clutch plate, sorted now. Is it normal to have to remove the side cover and clutch shaft to change the oil seal? |
