Historic Formula Ford 2000 Association

Thats a good idea James but the powers that be want to try and organise it mid season as far as I know on a circuit thats fairly central with a relativly short lap and they suggested Mallory. I spoke with Peter Hacket last night who I know has been in talks with Allan and there's more than a good chance of this thing working. Peter thinks if he can make this work in 2016 which I believe he will with Allan's help and knowledge and Dick Dixon from Historic Ff1600 it could be a regular fixture on the calender. Once the profile has been built and the sucess is known perhaps other circuits could then be approached once Peter knows what he's dealing with.
There was a Classic race at the WHT which they let later cars in last year which spoilt it in my opinion, but one of the main problems is that any body in older cars have to qualify through the heats with the modern cars where you stand a good chance of having your car damaged.
If this thing gets going all the cars will be historic or classic all in their own races so you will be racing with people who you are familiar with and Peter will monitor driving standards as he does in Classic Ff1600's and believe me if you do something wrong you certainly know about it!!!

I genuinely don't think Mallory is appealing for this or the mid season date due to people having their own agenda in their various championships but its a great concept and would work well at the wht event I think. 2 heats and a final for classic ff1600, ff2000 and s2000 could easily be fitted into the time table. Why not ask the HSCC before committing elsewhere?

As I said James thats the direction the powers that be want to go in, it might not be ideal but its not me thats organising it. The venue isnt set in stone as yet but remember these people, Peter Hacket, Allan Morgan and Dick Dixon are the best in the business and they will have all our best interests at heart.

This is really Peter Hackett's project - he's already done quite a bit of work on it. He's going to keep me updated as things progress but the plan is for FF2000 to have heats and a final (and possibly a repechage) in the proposed event format. Peter is also planning to have separate URS races if the numbers look ok.

I plan to be out again next year after a couple of years off whilst abroad. Hopefully this justifies my 2p, though I don’t expect to add a great deal!

My view is that a more concentrated effort on the HSCC option is the best route for URS. Running with CF3 seems quite considerably the most logical option open – cars are of a similar age, similar performance and they look right together. The occasional rounds (and hopefully more frequent rounds if they can warmed to the idea!) with the Historics is a real benefit in my view. These are the rounds I have seriously missed not being involved this year. I think this ‘package’ is very marketable and the best leverage in getting new or existing owners out.

I appreciate that this year has been a difficult year and not yielded good grids but it’s a transitional year and I think too soon to judge on the longer term situation. I do also appreciate the benefits of the BARC support and I wonder if it’s dangerous to lose this link – but I don’t really know if this issue has any foundation.

A survey to known 81-83 car owners is good plan. What support is needed to move this forward?!

Festival idea sounds great. I actually quite like Mallory but have only ever tested there!
