It was a factor in my non entry too.
We do seem to be the last or second to last race of the Sunday more often than not.

It certainly makes it harder if you have a distance to get home and have to be at work on Monday, or have a little one in tow. This issue is compounded when it's already a 2/3 day meeting.

I'm surprised HSCC are always so late getting meeting timetables out on their website too.

Yes, we chose to lose money rather than go through with that.

We should all be used to it by now, can't remember the last time we didn't pull the short straw! For my part I was expecting a nightmare journey home with all the bank holiday traffic clogging up the M6 and M5 but as it happened we left Oulton at 7.00pm and had a clear run all the way home, not a single queue or hold-up...amazing!...the 5 hours flew by, lol...and that has NEVER happened before in all the years I've been going there! All done and dusted in one day as well with plenty of other stuff going on to keep the Mrs entertained, not a cloud in the sky and a nice shiny gold trophy to cap it all off...Turns out there is a God after all  See you all at Brands hopefully.

I don't think I will get used to it Chris, I spent too long with the BARC. Looking at the 5-7 entries we are getting compared with ( what seemed at the time a miserable) 12 with BARC it would appear that very few others are getting used to it either. BARC said they would put races on for us in 2017 again if we can raise 15 interested drivers, but, with the vast majority of the cars fell into the hands of people who aren't interested in racing them, I have little or no confidence in doing that.

I know what you mean Bob and being a regular competitor as well the late races are a pain in the arse, from my point of view because after having waited around all day I've usually pretty well given up the will to live, let alone race, by the time the lights go out! Obviously if you have to be in work the next morning then it is a real problem but the root of the problem can't be laid at the door of HSCC. Why would they want to accommodate a very small grid of cars in the middle of a busy programme when they have well supported grids to offer better spectator entertainment? Therefore while numbers are down we're always going to have to accept the situation that we have! The only way to get better timetable slots is to get more cars out there, the problem is that as we both know the people who have the cars don't seem to want to race them regularly and there are several reasons ranging from owning and racing other cars as well, only wanting to actually race maybe a couple of times a year, expense, family commitments through to general 'can't be bothered' apathy. That same apathy probably explains why there don't appear to be any cars being pro-actively put up for sale - can't be bothered, let it sit there!

I know it's not everybody's cup of tea being lumped in with other poorly supported grids as well and whilst it's not ideal I've got to say that I've had some bloody enjoyable dices with Classic F3's and Classic Racing Cars over the last couple of years and I'd rather go home buzzing from a really good scrap than trying to convince myself that boringly droning around with only a handful of other well spaced FF2000's is the meaning of life! It's not a just a modern day solution, which is why Formula Libre was so big in the late 60's and early 70's.

Looking at Historic FF2000's (which at Oulton only just struggled in to double figures by the second race) the same problem looks to be taking root and there now has to be a good case to combine them with us for 2017, one or two of the Historic's I've spoken to now seem to feel that would be a sensible step forward, strikes me that there's not much to choose between a well driven car from either class, it's just that newer is perceived to be faster and with the exception of Ian nobody else from memory has beaten an Historic to an overall win when grids have been combined as of yet, correct me if I'm mistaken.

Still, could be worse, could own a 16v Formula Renault...won't be anywhere to race those next year at all now that Monoposto have kicked them out. Two years ago BARC Formula Renault had grids of twenty plus!

Is that definite the Renault won't be allowed in as I thought there's an impeding vote, I get what you say about multi class racing, had a good time with monos at donn a few weeks ago but id prefer a full grid of ff2000 regardles of year, make, who drove it 30 year ago etc etc. Classic ff1600 turned it around, it can be done
