Is that used to seal the end of the drilling in the oil gallery on the flywheel end of the Block?

Having completely stripped my engine, I'm 99.99% certain I didn't find an 11mm ball bearing!

Must have come from a lobro joint surely.

There is a listing on Ebay for a ball bearing and two oil gallery plugs for the Pinto engine.

Excellent find! I can remember the bungs in my recent dis-assembly, but not the ball bearing. Will check on Saturday as we start the rebuild.
Graham

PS it's ok, even though I am an amateur, I have some proper expert help for the rebuild!

As I don't have litres of oil pouring from the engine, I assume that when I had the welsh plugs replaced whilst the block was being decked, they improvised with something.

Dry sump modification completed using a collection of second hand parts available in South Africa. Ready to test now, finally hoping for a reliable Pilbeam.

Im not sure about your breather from the oil tank to the catch tank as its right next to the oil return to the oil tank. I would take the breather to the oil tank filler neck and block off where you have the current breather, thats meant for the second scavenge return. Ive had bad experiences with breathers being near oil returns pumping all of my oil into the catch tank on LH bends!!!

Good luck

Mark

Hi Mark, currently the breather in the oil tank filler neck comes from the crankcase "flame trap", do I no longer need that? Just go from the filler neck to the catch tank and plug the redundant hole?

Yes you can block the flame trap breather. Then vent the dry sump tank from the filler to the catch tank. Cam cover breather can also go to catch tank. Of course im ready to be shot down in flames!

Cheers

Mark

And whilst I can't add any value to the breather discussion, I'd like to say I'm concerned about those cable ties. Are they the right shade of green?
