I was in conversation with Ian Watson of the BARC about a month ago and he asked how we were getting on. I described the situation, and he said that he would run races for us if there were 15 drivers prepared to do it and he seemed to favor an old idea of mine to include what few cars there are in the country from a year of manufacture from 83-89. As it happened, a guy with an 86 Reynard came to see us at the weekend to see if there was anyway in.
To be honest, I cannot see anyway if getting 15 drivers interested in running with the HSCC or BARC in the foreseeable future, so, for what it's worth, that's about all I've got to offer.

For next year we are probably best with some stability - giving the move to the HSCC a chance to work out.

We have already had a couple of new drivers join. I'm aware of at least one more with a car intending to come out next year and at least another two who would be racing with us if any cars ever came up for sale. Grids have improved - at Silverstone we had 11 FF2000s entered which compared pretty favourably to the 13 in the Historic FF2000 Race.

For the moment I think the key thing is to keep trying to persuade existing owners to either use their cars or put them up for sale!

If we do allow additional cars I agree with Bob, it's a no brainer to start with FF2000s. Same engine, same tyres and regulations, just a few years more development.
It could perhaps be done on a trial basis via an invitation class. We could also look at a higher weight limit for later cars as well to try and avoid alienating the existing RF82 owners.
The only negative is car availability. I'm only aware of a single SF84 that races regularly in monoposto and the SF86 mentioned earlier. It's no good adding a class for later cars if there aren't many around. There is a lot of risk of alienating existing racers for the sake of one or two additional cars on the grid.

Personally I have no interest in racing with monoposto. The huge performance differentials they have with fast bike engined cars and the slow 1600s does not appeal at all.
At least racing with CF3 the lap time difference was no more than 1second per lap at Silverstone and when we race with the Historic FF2000s the difference is much smaller again.

I think all the weight compensation stuff is an unnecessary inconvenience. You only have to look at the massive ( on paper) difference between the F3 cars and ours and then see that the advantage all turns to nothing when the driver abilities come into play. The difference between the oldest and newest FF2000 can't possibly be as great as the potential difference between an RT3 and an RF82.

For what's it's worth I think racing with the HSCC is a far more attractive option than running at a random BARC meeting. I was at Silverstone on Sunday and found the CF3 / URS race thoroughly enjoyable to watch.
The prospect of racing on the HSCC bill is one of reasons I'd like to join the URS field (if only I could find a reasonable RF82...) , a view that may well be shared by other potential drivers.
I would have no problem being paired with the CF3 field on a regular basis either, driving standards were good from what I saw and the performance differential wasn't huge.

As a Cf3 driver I think it works very well having the URS cars . Ian and Marc both proved that an RF83 can mix it right at the front . Me and Marc had a brilliant ding dong on Sunday . It took me a few laps to close in on Marc then yes I did you the extra power to get past him . I then had a bunch of neutrals at the end of the race and Marc nipped by to beat me . Did not care it was brilliant fun .

It would be good and constructive to hear from more urs car owners for their views, toget a broad view
